On Sunday, Columbus Crew 2 defeated New England Revolution II 4-1 at Historic Crew Stadium. While Michael Vang scored a brace and Isaiah Parente was named the Man of the Match for his assist (which included an assist), there was another player who had an outstanding performance: Sean Zawadzki.
Zawadzki, who joined the Crew First Team ahead of the 2022 season, completed all 38 of his passes on the night, becoming the first outfield player to play the entirety of a Crew 2 match with a 100% passing accuracy percentage.
In addition to completing all of his passes, Zawadzki created two goal-scoring chances for the group while also making one clearance and registering one interception.
When asked about his performance, the midfielder shared that he sees his job as facilitating things for his teammates.
“With the ball, I just try to keep it simple: Give the ball to guys like Isaiah [Parente] and Michael Vang and let them be more creative than I am,” said Zawadzki.
The 4-1 victory brought the Black & Gold’s home record to 7-1, and overall record to 12-2-2. With 38 points on the season, Crew 2 sits on first place sitting atop the overall MLS NEXT Pro standings.
While supporters may be worried that complacency could set in, Zawadzki made it clear that he has not seen that from Crew 2 players or staff.
“When I spend time with the team [Crew 2], that’s a big talking point, to not be too complacent – [to] keep striving, keep working hard every day [and] pushing each other. We’ve been talking a lot about trying to be the number one seed, not just in the East but in both conferences and both divisions.”
Up next, Crew 2 returns to the pitch for an Eastern Conference road contest against Philadelphia Union II at Subaru Park on Sunday, July 31 [7:00 p.m. ET / MLSNEXTPro.com (stream)].
