Crew SC’s 22nd MLS All-Star and Homegrown Will Trapp got a taste of the All-Star experience from touchdown in San Jose on Tuesday, all the way through Thursday’s 2016 AT&T All-Star Game.
Aside from training for the game, Trapp played FIFA with fans and spent time with his other All-Star teammates including fellow homegrown from FC Dallas, Kellyn Acosta.
“I think it was more about the experience, the fan experience and our ability to just have a good time,” Trapp said following the game on Thursday night.
Despite the All-Star’s 2-1 defeat to Arsenal, Trapp played 45 minutes and looking sharp in his usual defensive midfield role — distributing balls forward from just in front of the back four.
For Trapp, it was all about getting to be a part of the All-Star team and playing among the League’s best.
“I think the game itself was a great experience but the whole week is always something you are going to look back on and enjoy: getting to know these guys as well as just the overall festivity and production of what an All-Star week is,” Trapp said.
Be sure to watch Trapp on Sunday evening as he will be back in action with the Black & Gold as they head to Toronto for the Final Leg of the Trillium Cup. Columbus' return to action in the 2016 Trillium Cup rivalry series is on Sunday, July 31 at Toronto FC (7:30 p.m. ET / The CW Columbus, Time Warner Cable SportsChannel, BCSN2, CD102.5 FM, La Mega 103.1, English radio stream on ColumbusCrewSC.com).
