COLUMBUS – Columbus Crew SC today announced that midfielder Niko Hansen underwent successful hernia surgery today and is expected to be sidelined for Crew SC’s next three matches (June 24–July 4). The procedure to repair an inguinal hernia was performed by Dr. Richard Cattey at Madison Medical Affiliates in Mequon, Wisconsin.
In 2017, his first campaign with the Black & Gold, Hansen has made 13 appearances (three starts) and has recorded one goal and two assists. The midfielder was selected by Crew SC with the ninth overall pick in the First Round of the 2017 MLS SuperDraft on January 13, 2017.
Crew SC next plays the Montreal Impact at MAPFRE Stadium on Saturday, June 24 with a 7:30 p.m. ET kickoff. Enjoy half-off select beers (for supporters ages 21-and-over), Pepsi products, brats and pretzels through the 15th minute.
