COLUMBUS — Columbus Crew SC today confirmed one additional positive COVID-19 case involving a player following testing at the beginning of the week. No new positive cases were returned for players or staff following results of Tuesday’s testing which were returned Tuesday night.
The Club will continue to administer COVID-19 testing each day this week. Crew SC has been in regular communication with Major League Soccer and local health authorities on the matter ahead of the Club’s scheduled Audi 2020 MLS Cup Playoffs Eastern Conference Finals match against the New England Revolution on Sunday, December 6 at MAPFRE Stadium [3:00 p.m. ET / ABC and ESPN Deportes, 97.1 The Fan & 971TheFan.com (English), ColumbusCrewSC.com (Spanish)].
One player returned a confirmed positive result following Monday night testing. Tuesday’s testing, on the team off day, returned zero positives across players and staff. In consultation with medical experts and MLS, the Club will not hold team training today (Wednesday) and the team’s training facility will undergo sanitization. Upon the team’s return, the team will restrict indoor access to the facility for players to limit interaction to on-field training. The Club will provide additional updates as additional information becomes available.
The health and safety of all players and staff remains the highest priority for the Club.
