Columbus Crew, in conjunction with Major League Soccer, today announced that midfielder Darlington Nagbe has been selected for the 2022 MLS All-Star Game presented by Target. The midfielder is the 25th player in Crew history to be named an MLS All-Star. The 26 MLS All-Stars are set to face the best of LIGA MX at Allianz Field on August 10 [8:30 p.m. ET / ESPN, Univision].
Nagbe, who was previously named an MLS All-Star Game in 2016, is the only player in the 2022 MLS All-Star Game roster to win three MLS Cups (2015, 2018, 2020). The 26-player roster was determined through a combination of fan, player, and media voting (12 players), designations by All-Star Head Coach Adrian Heath (12 players) and selections by MLS Commissioner Don Garber (two players).
Since joining the Crew ahead of the 2020 season, Nagbe has made 66 regular-season appearances (65 starts) while registering six goals and six assists. The midfielder helped the Crew win a trophy each of his first two seasons with the Club, winning the MLS Cup in 2020 and the Campeones Cup – the Crew’s first international trophy – in 2021. Additionally, he has maintained a pass completion percentage of 93.8% since 2020, the highest percentage in the League over that span.
In 2022, Nagbe has made 18 regular-season appearances (all starts), while scoring three goals. The midfielder has completed 865 of his attempted 937 passes and has a passing completion percentage of 92.3%, the highest completion percentage among players to have played at least 1,000 minutes this season.
