Columbus Crew, Columbus Metropolitan Library partnership expands access to soccer, literacy and community engagement

COLUMBUS — The Columbus Crew and Columbus Metropolitan Library (CML) announced today their expanded community partnership that enhances access to soccer while advancing youth literacy and lifelong learning across Central Ohio.

The Crew and CML have created innovative opportunities for families and local residents to engage with the beautiful game and education through programs including CML’s Culture Pass Program, the Summer Reading Challenge, community events and the 2026 Columbus Book Festival.

The partnership will celebrate the collaboration with a free kickoff event at CML’s Main Library on Sunday, June 14 from 1-3 p.m. 614 Day: Kickin’ It with the Crew at Main Library will feature family-friendly activities, soccer experiences and first access to the 7,500 limited-edition commemorative Columbus Crew library cards, available while supplies last.

“As a Club, we believe soccer can be a powerful platform to bring people together and create opportunities throughout our community,” said Stephanie Cedeño, Crew Vice President of Community Relations. “Partnering with Columbus Metropolitan Library allows us to connect with families and young readers in new ways while helping make both soccer and educational resources more accessible across Central Ohio.”

“We’re proud to partner with the Columbus Crew,” said CML CEO Lauren Hagan. “Our organizations bring people together, inspire young minds, and strengthen community pride. Our ‘open to all’ philosophy connects people to books and experiences that spark curiosity and create lasting memories. We're thankful to the Crew for opening their doors so more library customers can experience professional soccer this year.”

The Crew and CML will continue to provide complimentary tickets for community members to select Crew matches at ScottsMiracle-Gro Field as part of the library’s Culture Pass program. Launched in 2025, the Black & Gold and CML offer library cardholders the ability to “check out” free tickets to games, including the following for the 2026 season:

  • July 25 vs. FC Cincinnati
  • Aug. 19 vs. CF Montréal
  • Sept. 12 vs. New York Red Bulls

Tickets for the first three matches will be made available at the 614 Day: Kickin’ It with the Crew at Main Library event on June 14.

The Crew will also support CML’s Summer Reading Challenge. In addition to a two-page spread in the Summer Reading Challenge booklet that highlights the global game and STEM activities, the Crew is providing giveaway items, signed memorabilia and special fan experiences, highlighted by 23 signed MLS adidas mini balls and a grand prize package featuring four tickets to the Crew’s Sept. 27 match against Inter Miami CF.
