Chris Shenberger — Head of Sport Science and Medicine
Chris Shenberger is the Head of Sport Science & Medicine with the Columbus Crew. In his current position, Shenberger leads the entire sports science, performance and medical departments for the Club. Shenberger originally joined the Club in January of 2017 as its Assistant Athletic Trainer before being promoted to Head Athletic Trainer in 2018.
Before joining the Crew, he spent four years at Northwestern University as the Associate Athletic Trainer for the Men’s Soccer Team. Prior to his time at Northwestern University, Shenberger was the Head Athletic Trainer for Case Western Reserve University.
Shenberger graduated from Georgia State University with a master’s degree in Athletic Training. Prior to that, he earned a bachelor’s degree at Capital University in Athletic Training. Shenberger has also regularly worked with U.S. Soccer at the youth level since 2007.
Shenberger lives in Columbus with his wife, Jennifer and his son, Shea. He enjoys running marathons in his spare time. The family has two dogs.
